All this snow so early in the year is getting everybody thinking Skiing and Snowboarding, but its also a great to time to get out and crosscountry ski. There are tons of great trails in the foothills and Mountains that are very accessible and its also a great chance to go one of Denver’s parks and experience the city in a completely different way. City Park, Cheesman, Wash Park, Rocky Mtn. Lake and Berkeley Lake Park are great to “explore” in the snow and for a little more varied terrain try Ruby Hill Park. Its quiet, peaceful and great exercise and an activity that the kids can get in on too. Our girls are small (3 and 1) so they can still ride on our backs in the kid carriers but I’m thinking of retrofitting our bike trailer to put some skis on it! If you NEED to get into the Foothills and Mountains here are some great places to go for a fun day of skiing. Mt. Falcon Open Space – Go to the entrance from 285. The top is flattish and offers a lot of trails and great scenery. Brainard Lake Park – Great Trails. It is a fee area and sometimes a little busy, but close, beautiful and a lot of fun. Chinns Lake – Free, Close, Crowd Free, Beautiful Peaks Trail – (Breckenridge to Frisco) Lost Lake – Lots of trails to explore and close to Denver and Boulder REI’s page for Colorado Cross Country Ski Trails Nordic Ski Area trail...

You know Confluence Park by REI, Commons Park adjacent to Confluence, and City of Cuernavaca Park by the Flour Mill Lofts. Similar park redevelopment and mised use is planned all the to I-70 and further North.
