Walkable Neighborhoods are worth more than less walkable neighborhoods. According to the latest New York Times article, by Christopher Leinberger, homes in the suburbs were getting a premium until the 90’s when there was shift in urban movement. People started moving to locations closer to downtown in areas that were slums 30 years ago. According to the article homes in Highlands are now worth 67% more than Highlands Ranch.
The article goes on to breakdown how this correlates to income and some of the reason’s why people are choosing to live in more urban neighborhoods.
